Hosta 'Seducer' PPAF (S. Asch 04)

Hosta 'Seducer' PPAF (S. Asch 04)

Part Sun to Light ShadeZone: 3-8 24" tall Origin: Hybrid
NEW! Hosta 'Seducer' is an amazing Stuart Asch hybrid that forms a 2' tall x 3' wide clump of large green leaves, each edged with a wide-ruffled band of gold. Between the gold and the green is a small wiggly white line (like you see driving home when you shouldn't be on the road) that intensifies with summer heat. The clumps are topped with 40" spikes of lavender flowers in late summer. Reportedly this is a H. 'Dorothy Benedict' selfed, but it is not physically possible to obtain this plant from that cross. Pot size: 3 qt. (2.83 L) #08837

Hosta 'Shazaam' (G. Jones 07)

Hosta 'Shazaam' (G. Jones 07)

Part Sun to Light ShadeZone: 3-8 12" tall Origin: Hybrid
Open House/Web-Only! We have seen few hostas attract more attention in our garden than Gil Jones' Hosta 'Shazaam'. This marvelous Hosta 'William Lachman' hybrid makes a stunning 2' wide clump of pointed green leaves with heavy corrugation. Each leaf is surrounded by a dramatic, 1" wide, creamy border that makes the clump "jump" visually. This is certainly one of the best introductions from Gil's extensive breeding program. The vigorous clumps are topped with 2' tall spikes of lavender flowers in midsummer. Pot size: 2 qt. (1.892 L) #05460
SOLD OUT

Open House/Web-Only! This unique and fast-growing hybrid (Hosta 'Lemon Lime' x Hosta 'Shining Tot') makes a delightful little 18" wide clump. Hosta 'Silver Threads and Golden Needles' (J. Anderson NR)

Hosta 'Silver Threads and Golden Needles' (J. Anderson NR)

Part Sun to Light ShadeZone: 3-8 6" tall Origin: Hybrid
We've been growing this Jim Anderson sport of H. 'Cheatin' Heart' since 2001, and in that time, it has become one of our favorite small hostas. Finally, we have enough to share. Our parent plants have never exceeded 6" in height x 8" in width. The chartreuse-yellow leaves have an unusual central pattern of green that takes up 80% of the leaf area. The green is then overlain with a white frosting. The clumps are topped with 8" stalks of light lavender flowers in late spring. Pot size: 24 fl. oz (709.77 ml) #07654
$20.00

Hosta 'Spartacus' (H. Hansen 07)

Hosta 'Spartacus' (H. Hansen 07)

Light ShadeZone: 3-8 17" tall Origin: Hybrid
Named for the Roman revolutionary rebel with a cause, this revolutionary sport of Hosta 'Sea Gulf Stream' forms a 17" tall x 3' wide clump of 1' long x 8" wide medium green leaves, surrounded by a heavily rippled yellow margin. I don't think I truly had an appreciation for this magnificent clump until I spent some time in Han Hansen's Minnesota garden in 2009...this is simply stunning! The clumps are topped with 3' tall scapes of lavender flowers in late spring. Pot size: 3 qt. (2.83 L) #08302
$24.00

Hosta 'Spilt Milk' (M. Seaver 99)

Part Sun to Light ShadeZone: 3-7 15" tall Origin: Hybrid
Open House/Web-Only! Hosta 'Spilt Milk' is generally recognized as one of the most unique hostas ever introduced. This Hosta 'Tokudama' hybrid makes a stunning clump of blue-green cupped foliage. The foliage is highlighted by an unusual assortment of streaking and misting in the center of each leaf. This patterning is distinct from the typical unstable streaking found in variegated hostas. In late spring, the 4' wide clumps are topped with attractive, 20" tall scapes of pure white flowers. Pot size: 2 qt. (1.892 L) #01999
SOLD OUT

Part Sun to ShadeZone: 3-8 15" tall Origin: Hybrid
Open House/Web-Only! (syn: Hosta 90-152, Hosta 'Hirao Tet' x Hosta 'August Moon') We think you will really enjoy our 1998 introduction...especially if you're a squash casserole fan. The large, wavy, chartreuse-gold leaves fan out to make a spectacular, vigorous and easy-to-grow 4' wide clump. In early summer, the clumps are topped with attractive, 20" tall scapes of light purple flowers. We have also found Hosta 'Squash Casserole' to be very sun-tolerant when kept moist. Pot size: 3 qt. (2.83 L) #02424

SOLD OUT

Hosta 'Stained Glass' (H. Hansen 99)

Hosta 'Stained Glass' (H. Hansen 99)

Part Sun to Light ShadeZone: 3-9 15" tall Origin: Hybrid
Would it be too bold to say this is the best new hosta to hit the market in the last decade? Oh well, no one has ever accused us of lacking an opinion. This Hans Hansen introduction is a marked improvement on the wildly popular H. 'Guacamole' from which it mutated. The brilliantly shiny golden foliage is surrounded by a 2" wide, dark green margin. This incredibly vigorous sun tolerant grower makes a 3-4' wide clump, topped in late summer with large, very fragrant, light lavender flowers! This is absolutely fantastic...do not live without this hosta for another day! Pot size: 3 qt. (2.83 L) #04232
$26.00

Hosta 'Stimulation' (T. Avent 06)

Hosta 'Stimulation' (T. Avent 06)

Light ShadeZone: 3-8, at least 17" tall Origin: Hybrid
Open House/Web-Only! (aka: Hosta 99-81) Hosta 'Stimulation' is another of those truly recognizable hostas, even in a crowded hosta garden. This is our 1999 seedling, resulting from a menage a quatre involving Hosta 'Red Neck Heaven', Hosta 'Invincible', Hosta yingeri 'Treasure Island', and last but not least, Hosta 'Elvis Lives'. The result is a 17" tall x 3' wide clump of very glossy green leaves that have an amazing amount of waviness. The leaf tips appear "stimulated" since they are pinched at the tip, similar to Hosta ventricosa. The clumps are topped with 28" tall scapes of large pale lavender flowers in mid-September. This hybrid has been through enough already, therefore we will not opt for tissue culture. Pot size: 2 qt. (1.892 L) #06605
$35.00

Hosta 'Stirfry' (H. Benedict 90)

Hosta 'Stirfry' (H. Benedict 90)

Light ShadeZone: 3-8 12" tall Origin: Hybrid
Open House/Web-Only! This cute little hosta is from the Hosta ventricosa breeding program of Dr. Herb Benedict. Hosta 'Stirfry' is the result of Hosta 'Holly's Honey' having sex with itself...a practice that was strongly promoted by a former surgeon general! The dark green leaves have a unique twist at the tip (possibly due to above mentioned activity). In late summer, the 3' wide clumps are topped with near-dark lavender bells on 3' scapes. Pot size: 3 qt. (2.83 L) #02584
SOLD OUT

Hosta 'Stitch In Time' PP 18,061 (R. Mortko 06)

Hosta 'Stitch In Time' PP 18,061 (R. Mortko 06)

Part Sun to Light ShadeZone: 3-8 12" tall Origin: Hybrid
I remember seeing this for the first time and thinking...Wow! This stunning new introduction from Rob Mortko is undoubtedly one of the more unusual hostas we have ever grown. H. 'Stitch in Time' is the plant we all hoped for with H. 'Embroidery'. The unusual sport of H. 'Summer Breeze' features broad, golden leaves, complemented with a small, dark green pattern that appears to be stitched into the leaf center. This has proven to be very difficult to propagate, even with tissue culture, so don't expect this to ever become widely available or low-priced. The 2' wide clump is topped with a 2' spike of lavender flowers in midsummer. Pot size: 2 qt. (1.892 L) #07285
$45.00

Pot size: 2 qt. (1.892 L) #08330
$22.00

Hosta 'Sum and Substance' (P. Aden 80)

Part Sun to Light ShadeZone: 3-9 20" tall Origin: Hybrid
Considered to be one of the finest hostas ever introduced, this giant chartreuse clump is a knockout...30" tall scapes of pale lavender flowers in midsummer add to its beauty. Each rounded leaf can reach 2' across, while clumps average 6' wide for good gardeners, and may reach 9'+...great for neighborhood bragging rights! Pot size: 3 qt. (2.83 L) #01102
$22.00

This plant has not been tissue-cultured. Pot size: 3 qt. (2.83 L) #05916
$28.00

Part Sun to Light ShadeZone: 3-7 10" tall Origin: Hybrid
New crop available 9-10-2010 This revolutionary sport of H. 'Little Aurora' has rapidly become the toast of the hosta world. H. 'Tattoo' boasts small, rounded, bright gold leaves with a wide, light green border. Each leaf is then "tattooed" with the outline of a dark green maple leaf in the center...a dramatic departure from the typical two-toned hosta foliage. In late spring, the 18" wide clumps are topped with 10" tall scapes of light lavender flowers. Be sure to get your neighbors talking about your very own Hosta 'Tattoo'. Pot size: 2 qt. In late summer the clump is topped with 30" tall spikes of huge, fragrant, light lavender flowers...what a stunning plant! Pot size: 2 qt. (1.892 L) #07393

Hosta 'Titanic' PP 12,402 (H. Hansen 99)

Hosta 'Titanic' PP 12,402 (H. Hansen 99)

Part Sun to Light ShadeZone: 3-8 20" tall Origin: Hybrid
Open House/Web-Only! With a name like Hosta 'Titanic', you can imagine how big this hosta will become. Old clumps may surpass the 9' wide record of its parent Hosta 'Sum and Substance'. This sport of Hosta 'Sum and Substance' boasts a very wide golden border surrounding the glossy, chartreuse-green leaf centers, even when young. It is far more dramatic than the first introduced edged forms of Hosta 'Sum and Substance'. This should only be planted where space is not a problem. The clumps are topped with large, light lavender flowers in midsummer. Pot size: 3 qt. (2.83 L) #04231

Hosta 'Tom Schmid' (T. Schmid 95)

Light ShadeZone: 3-8 36" tall Origin: Hybrid
I remember first seeing Hosta 'Tom Schmid' in the Schmid garden several years ago and thinking this was one of the best new hostas I'd ever seen. Tom obviously agreed, since he named the hosta after his favorite nurseryman. This sport of H. 'Krossa Regal' makes a stunning 3' wide semi-upright clump of steel-blue foliage surrounded by a pure white border. In midsummer, the clumps are topped with 5' tall scapes of lavender flowers. Pot size: 3 qt. (2.83 L) #04988

Hosta 'Tootie Mae' (A. Bearden/Winterberry Farms 06)

Hosta 'Tootie Mae' (A. Bearden/Winterberry Farms 06)

Light ShadeZone: 3-7 18" tall Origin: Hybrid
This splendid sport of Hosta 'Tokudama Flavocircinalis' was discovered by Alabama's Alan Bearden, who named it after his wife, Tootie Mae. Hosta 'Tootie Mae' has a much wider yellow border than its parent, that both shows up at an earlier age and remains stunning throughout the growing season. The 18" tall x 40" wide clumps of heavily-corrugated round, blue leaves are adorned with a wide golden border and topped in late spring with spikes of near white flowers. We have found this to be an exceptional new introduction that should be in all hosta gardens. Pot size: 2 qt. (1.892 L) #07194

If you are already excited about hostas, wait until you see H. 'Touch of Class'. This is the first in a series of intentional hosta conversions from diploid to tetraploid. H. 'Touch of Class' comes from the popular H. 'June'. The central pattern of the doubly-thick leaves is chartreuse-gold, surrounded by a very wide, blue-green border. In midsummer, the 2' wide clumps are topped with thick 2' tall scapes of light lavender flowers. We have grown this side by side with H. 'June' for several years and find H. 'Touch of Class' more intensely and more dramatically colored...we think you will agree! Pot size: 2 qt. (1.892 L) #04625
$26.00
