I remember first seeing Hosta 'Tom Schmid' in the Schmid garden several years ago and thinking this was one of the best new hostas I'd ever seen. Tom obviously agreed, since he named the hosta after his favorite nurseryman. This sport of H. 'Krossa Regal' makes a stunning 3' wide semi-upright clump of steel-blue foliage surrounded by a pure white border. In midsummer, the clumps are topped with 5' tall scapes of lavender flowers.
