What a great name for a mad slasher flick...as well as a cool hosta. This vigorous hosta from Ron Livingston's breeding program makes a 9" tall x 28" wide clump of narrow rippled light green leaves with unusually serrate leaf margins. We have found the leaf serrations become most exaggerated as the clump ages and with good morning/part-day sun exposure. The clumps are topped by 20" spikes of purple flowers in September. Just when you thought it was safe to open another hosta catalog...wrong! Hosta 'Hanky Panky' is yet another in the line of amazing sports from Hosta 'Striptease'. We think this is possibly the most beautiful and unique of the bunch. Hosta 'Hanky Panky' makes a fast-growing, 3' wide clump of dark green leaves surrounded by a gold border with a narrow white thread between the two patterns. This stunning sport of Hosta 'June' adds another beautiful plant to the line of great mutations from a great hosta. Despite its small stature, Hosta 'High Society' makes a WOW specimen in the garden. I was very impressed with Hosta 'High Tide' when I first saw it in the garden of Minnesota hosta breeder Hans Hansen and we are thrilled to make it available. The thick, dusty blue, heavily-textured leaves also have a nicely rippled edge. This Hosta longipes v. latifolia x Hosta 'Dorset Blue' hybrid makes a compact 1' tall x 3' wide clump, topped in late summer with 20" tall stalks of medium lavender flowers.

I was taken (not literally) by this tetraploid mutation of Hosta 'On Stage' when I visited Hans Hansen's Minnesota garden. This new hosta, which was subsequently named H. 'Hollywood Lights', makes an amazing 2' tall x 4' wide clump of dome-like dark green 14" long x 10" wide leaves, each with a dramatic bright yellow center. If you didn't know this came from H. This PDN release was the result of our breeding programs efforts to hybridize small but fast-multiplying, vigorous hostas. Hosta 'Hush Puppie' is a Hosta venusta hybrid that forms a 16" clump of small green leaves edged with a wide creamy yellow border. Hosta 'Jerry Landwehr' is named for one of Wisconsin's top shade gardeners and co-founder of the Green Bay Botanical Garden. This most unusual sport of Hosta 'Striptease' was introduced in 2000 by New Zealand's Barry Sligh. In what had never been observed in hostas before, the green part of the H. 'Striptease' leaf mutated to bluish-green. The change, contrasted with the wide central cream stripe, makes for an outstandingly beautiful plant. For us H. (aka: Hosta 97-386) This 2007 Plant Delights release is a 1997 seedling involving Hosta 'Invincible', Hosta sieboldiana 'Elegans', and a few other friends. The long, tapering, glaucous leaves, edged in creamy yellow, form a waterfall-like 14" tall x 4' wide clump, topped in July with a 22" tall spike of light lavender flowers. Hosta 'Lederhosen' is one of the more unique hostas ever hybridized by the late Herb Benedict. This 18" tall x 3' wide clump is composed of thick, rubbery, ruffled, blue-green leaves which reminded Herb of leather britches (lederhosen). Anyone who would name one hosta 'Little Stiffy' and another 'Nooner', only makes one wonder about the real story behind 'Lederhosen'. Hosta 'Mighty Mouse' is another in the increasing line of Hosta 'Blue Mouse Ears' sports. This small hosta hybrid from Japan has long been one of our favorites, but it is rarely grown; probably because of its unpronounceable name. For inquiring minds, mishima means "three islands" and is a location in Japan, and fukurin means "margined." Hosta 'Mishima Fukurin' resembles a dwarf Hosta 'Regal Splendor'. The upright petioles support the outfacing green leaves, each bordered with a nice yellow edge. In midsummer, the 1' tall x 2' wide clumps are topped with 2' tall spikes of dark purple flowers.
