Hosta 'Hacksaw' (R. Livingston NR)

Hosta 'Hacksaw' (R. Livingston NR)

Part Sun to Light ShadeZone: 3-8, at least 9" tall Origin: Hybrid
What a great name for a mad slasher flick...as well as a cool hosta. This vigorous hosta from Ron Livingston's breeding program makes a 9" tall x 28" wide clump of narrow rippled light green leaves with unusually serrate leaf margins. We have found the leaf serrations become most exaggerated as the clump ages and with good morning/part-day sun exposure. The clumps are topped by 20" spikes of purple flowers in September. Pot size: 2 qt. (1.892 L) #08303

Part Sun to Light ShadeZone: 3-8 20" tall Origin: Hybrid
NEW! This most unusual sport of Hosta 'Striptease' was introduced in 2000 by New Zealand's Barry Sligh. In what had never been observed in hostas before, the green part of the H. 'Striptease' leaf mutated to bluish-green. The change, contrasted with the wide central cream stripe, makes for an outstandingly beautiful plant. For us H. 'Kiwi Full Monty' makes a 20" tall x 3' wide clump, topped with 2' tall scapes of light lavender flowers in early summer. Pot size: 3 qt. (2.83 L) #08763

The long, tapering, glaucous leaves, edged in creamy yellow, form a waterfall-like 14" tall x 4' wide clump, topped in July with a 22" tall spike of light lavender flowers. Hosta 'Lederhosen' (H. Benedict NR)

Hosta 'Lederhosen' (H. Benedict NR)

Light ShadeZone: 3-8 18" tall Origin: Hybrid
Open House/Web-Only! Hosta 'Lederhosen' is one of the more unique hostas ever hybridized by the late Herb Benedict. This 18" tall x 3' wide clump is composed of thick, rubbery, ruffled, blue-green leaves which reminded Herb of leather britches (lederhosen). Anyone who would name one hosta 'Little Stiffy' and another 'Nooner', only makes one wonder about the real story behind 'Lederhosen'. In late summer, the clumps are topped with stalks of large, fragrant, light lavender flowers. I'll bet you never dreamed leather britches could smell this good. You won't even need a label for this unique hosta. Pot size: 2 qt. (1.892 L) #07234

Finally, we are glad to provide what we think is one of the finest hostas ever introduced. This probably tetraploid version of Hosta 'Sagae' makes a stunning 2' wide, semi-upright clump. The extraordinarily thick, dark green leaves are edged with an astonishingly wide, golden yellow border, changing to cream in summer. In early summer, the slow-growing clumps are topped with spikes of lavender flowers. We are pleased to offer large 2-year-old plants. Pot size: 2 qt. (1.892 L) #04736

The 1' tall x 3' wide clumps of thick, round medium green leaves are highlighted with a narrow, but prominent dark green central blotch. We find this to be an exceptional new form and a vigorous grower. Moths are not included. Pot size: 3 qt. (2.83 L) #08771
$30.00

Hosta 'Mango Tango' (E. Kinman 07)

Hosta 'Mango Tango' (E. Kinman 07)

Part Sun to Light ShadeZone: 3-8 20" tall Origin: Hybrid
This unusual sport of Hosta 'Dance with Me', discovered by Iowa's Eric Kinman, is the reverse pattern of the popular H. The clumps are topped with 2' spikes of lavender flowers in late summer...absolutely fascinating! Pot size: 2 qt. (1.892 L) #08423

'Frosted Mouse Ears', but the edge seems slightly more white to us. Pot size: 24 fl. oz (709.77 ml) #08820
$22.00

Hosta 'Mishima Fukurin' (Japan NR)

Hosta 'Mishima Fukurin' (Japan NR)

Part Sun to Light ShadeZone: 3-8 12" tall Origin: Hybrid
Open House/Web-Only! This small hosta hybrid from Japan has long been one of our favorites, but it is rarely grown; probably because of its unpronounceable name. For inquiring minds, mishima means "three islands" and is a location in Japan, and fukurin means "margined." Hosta 'Mishima Fukurin' resembles a dwarf Hosta 'Regal Splendor'. The upright petioles support the outfacing green leaves, each bordered with a nice yellow edge. In midsummer, the 1' tall x 2' wide clumps are topped with 2' tall spikes of dark purple flowers. Hosta 'Mishima Fukurin' is a good grower that multiplies well...we hope you enjoy it as much as we do. Pot size: 3 qt. (2.83 L) #02761

Part Sun to Light ShadeZone: 3-8 16" tall Origin: Hybrid
NEW! We've been growing this wonderful introduction from the late Maria Plater-Zyberk for years and just hadn't got around to offering it before now. Hosta 'Moon Waves' makes an elegant 16" tall x 3'+ wide clump of long, pointed, very wavy golden leaves. This is reportedly a sport of H. 'August Moon', but is undoubtedly incorrect. The clumps are topped with 30" scapes of lavender flowers in midsummer. Pot size: 3 qt. (2.83 L) #07550
