Sarcococca hookeriana var. humilis Purple Stem (Dwarf Sweetbox)
Part Sun to ShadeZone: 6-8, at least 18" tall Origin: Himalayas
This wonderful Himalayan member of the boxwood family makes a superb, texturally interesting evergreen groundcover for the woodland garden. The 18" long upright stalks are adorned with narrow glossy green leaves. The stems spread slowly via underground stolons, forming a 4' wide patch in 10 years. In late winter/early spring, the deer-resistant plants are laden with small, but very fragrant white flowers. While sarcococca loves rich organic soils, ours have thrived in less than stellar soils in deep shade. Pot size: 24 fl. oz (709.77 ml)
