The two basal leaves, which resemble flat green toothpicks, give rise to clusters of tiny pale pink flowers that open on sunny days over a period of a month starting in mid-March. C. virginica thrives in virtually all soil types, where it forms a nice 4' wide patch in 10 years, disappearing for the season by with onset of warm weather...very cute.
