Hedychium coccineum var. aurantiacum 'Flaming Torch' (Hardy Ginger Lily)
Sun to Part SunZone: 7b-10 75" tall Origin: Asia
Open House/Web-Only!
(syn: H. coccineum var. aurantiacum PDN Form) We knew we had something special but didn't know how special until we really began researching the gingers. Typically, H. coccineum var. aurantiacum has fairly small flowers in a large head. Our form has large flowers in a large head. Like the species, the 6-7' tall clumps come into flower with a giant bang in early September, looking like a series of giant torches. After a few weeks of rest, a new set of canes bursts into flower...one of the highlights of our garden! Pot size: 3 qt. (2.83 L)
