From China's Sichuan Province (around 2,500' elevation) comes this little-known aspidistra, with 18" long leaves, held on short stalks, and encased at the base in a dark purple sheath. The 3.5" wide, dark green leaves are lightly spotted with chartreuse yellow. If you've got a dark spot in the garden where little else grows, try aspidistra.
