The Plant Delights Nursery Education CenterWe have been very pleased with the response to our classes. During the last few years, visitors have come from several states to learn from our interactive series of classes and expert instructors. We hope you will join us this year for one or all of the following sessions. If there is a topic that you would like to see covered that we do not already offer, please let us know. The following classes are scheduled for 2010. Pre-registration is required, and space is limited. To register, call 919.772.4794, fax us at 919.662.0370, enter the class title and time on the back of your order form, or register online below.
We will confirm your registration by phone two or three days prior to the class. If a class is already full when your registration is received, you will be notified at that time.
2010 Schedule of Classes
Our interactive propagation workshop has also become one of our guaranteed sellout classes each
year. The day-long hands-on workshop will cover an amazing array of topics including seed, cuttings,
divisions, plant breeding, and darn near everything but grafting. The focus of the workshop is
perennials, but the techniques can be adapted to most plants you grow. By the time you are finished,
you'll leave here with lots of goodies, and be feeling ready to start your own nursery. The class is held in
our non-air conditioned shipping shed, so it may be quite hot during the class...dress accordingly.
(Lunch on your own.)
June is an amazing month between our open house dates when visitors miss many of the late spring goings on in the garden. Join Tony for this two hour class...an interactive outdoor walk through our extensive botanical gardens, discussing the plants in the garden, and how and why they grow. Come prepared to write as we send you on plant overload.

This is a workshop on photographing close-ups of fall garden colors, textures,
and patterns. Learn and apply close-up techniques for creating striking images.
The workshop focuses on compositional elements, close-up techniques, and
lighting and includes a classroom orientation, an illustrated handout, and
shooting sessions with the instructor. Instruction will cover how to do
close-ups with a basic lens through advanced techniques using macro lenses
and micro/ring lights. Also, some Photoshop™/Photoshop Elements™
techniques will be introduced. Photographers of all levels are welcome.
Josh has conducted workshops at the US Botanic
Garden, the Smithsonian, Brookside Gardens, Longwood Gardens, and many more.
He was also a judge for the 2009 Garden Writers Association National Media
Awards.

October is a transitional month in the garden, as the plants of summer begin to fade, and the stars of the
autumn garden begin to shine. Join Tony for this two hour class...an interactive outdoor walk through
our extensive botanical gardens, discussing the plants in the garden, and how and why they grow.

With the increasing interest in soil care as a means of avoiding plant stress and subsequent pest problems, the demand for this class has risen each season. The interactive lecture will discuss nutrient balance, soil test reports, how to incorporate organics, taking care of microbes, and an array of misconceptions regarding planting techniques. If you have soil test reports, be sure and bring them to class.
