Fall JC Raulston Arboretum Symposium
October 22 & 23, 2004
This has been an incredible year for symposiums in our area and it's
not over with yet. On October 22 & 23, 2004, the JC Raulston Arboretum
will host its fall symposium with a killer line-up. Headlining the
symposium are Michael Dirr of the UGA, the reigning guru of woody plants along
with my good friend, the legendary Dan Hinkley of Heronswood Nursery.
If that's not enough, NC State's Tom Ranney, the mad scientist of woody
plant breeding will tell about his earth-shattering work with Franklinia,
Calycanthus and much more. If you haven't heard Carol Reese of the
University of Tennessee, horticulture's grand dame of comedy, come
prepared to laugh until you can't sit still. Rounding out the lineup
is Florida plantsman Rick Schoellhorn, the guru of what's hot, new, and
tough in bedding plants for hot climates. This is a rare treat to hear
these great speakers on one program. Space is limited so call the
arboretum at 919/513-7005. We will have special open hours to coincide
with the symposium, so give us a call if you are heading this way.
