Our original bulb was purchased from the Bangkok market by plantsman Alan Galloway. We first thought it was the old hybrid Zephyranthes 'Ajax', but this clone differed slightly in color from the Zephyranthes 'Ajax' in our reference collection; hence, we use the moniker 'Bangkok Yellow'. This is almost certainly another hybrid of Zephyranthes citrina x Zephyranthes candida because of the typical short, round, upright green leaves of Zephyranthes candida. When it begins flowering in late summer, the clumps are topped with Zephyranthes candida-sized flowers that open a nice yellow and change to a lighter yellow the second day.
