I first saw the superb Tricyrtis latifolia extensively used in the early 1990s at a Minnesota hosta convention and was amazed how unavailable it was in the commercial trade. Tricyrtis latifolia is one of only two non-dwarf, upright growing, yellow-flowering species of toad lily...the other being the Chinese Tricyrtis puberula. Tricyrtis latifolia 'Golden Leopard' makes a sturdy upright stalk to 2' tall, adorned with glossy green leaves that don't overlap the stem as they do in Tricyrtis puberula. Starting in early June, Tricyrtis latifolia is topped with open panicles of upward-facing, butter-yellow flowers, each highlighted with small brown spots. Hailing from Northern Honshu, Tricyrtis latifolia does not appreciate long periods of excessive heat and performs much better in northern climates. Pot size: 24 fl. oz (709.77 ml)
