Hypericum buckleii 'Appalachian Sun' (Appalachian Sun Blue Ridge St. John's Wort)
Sun to Part SunZone: 5-8 10" tall Origin: USA
NEW!
My first encounter with the rare Hypericum buckleii (also spelled buckleyi depending on which version of the nomenclature code you use) was in the mountains of North Carolina, then later I enjoyed its company in our home rock garden. I was fascinated at how this delightful Southern Appalachian native had escaped cultivation for so long, but now we are glad to announce its time is here. Hypericum 'Appalachian Sun' makes an 18" wide mound of branches that can reach 10" tall, adorned with tiny green leaves and topped in midsummer with small yellow flowers. H. 'Appalachian Sun' is a seed strain developed at Sahin Seed in Holland. Good drainage, slightly acidic soils and a moist, but well-drained site are perfect. Pot size: 24 fl. oz (709.77 ml)
