This deer-resistant selection of the deciduous Japanese E. grandiflorum arose in the garden of the late Harold Epstein...a probable rendezvous between E. 'Yubae' and E. 'Silver Queen'. The green foliage, which emerges chocolate-purple, is topped with large purple-and-white bicolor flowers in spring...still quite rare commercially, so get 'em while they last.
