Agave americana ssp. protoamericana 'Lemon Lime' (Lemon Lime Century Plant)
SunZone: 8b-10, at least 48" tall Origin: Mexico
Open House/Web-Only!
This gem had been floating around California as an Agave americana without a valid cultivar name when it was christened Agave 'Lemon Lime' by agave expert Brian Kemble. In fact, it seems to be a form of Agave americana ssp. protoamericana from the Mexican population that intergrades with Agave scabra...hence, the rough leaf back. Agave 'Lemon Lime' makes a stunning 4' tall x 4' wide clump of very wide, blue leaves, each highlighted with a 6" wide chartreuse stripe down the center. Agave 'Lemon Lime' does produce offsets, but never enough to have lots of this gem. So far, we have had this to 19 degrees F, but feel that it will be much hardier. Pot size: 24 fl. oz (709.77 ml)
