This Yucca Do selection of the Mexican Agave parrasana was selected from a large block of seedlings at Arizona's Mountain States Nursery. Agave parrasana hails from the limestone mountains of Coahuilla, Mexico at elevations of 4,500' to 8,000'. Agave 'Meat Claw' is a compact, slow-growing, rarely offsetting clumper to only 10" tall x 1' wide in 8 years, composed of upright-held powder blue leaves...a great rock garden specimen. Agave 'Meat Claw' was selected for its wickedly-long hook-like spines that emerge bright red. Our clumps planted in 2001 have endured temperatures down to 6 degrees F. Agave flowers attract hummingbirds.
