Hedychium 'Vanilla Ice'
Vanilla Ice Hardy Ginger Lily
Item #: 8099
Zones: 7b to 10b
Dormancy: Winter
Height: 48" tall
Origin: Hybrid
We are pleased to offer Hedychium 'Vanilla Ice', a selection from Hedychium 'Dr. Moy' made by NC's defunct Messenbrink's Nursery, that was introduced in limited numbers in 2000. Hedychium 'Vanilla Ice' has much more white flecking than its parent, which reduces it in both size and vigor...a good thing for smaller gardens. Any reverted, larger-growing, less-variegated shoots should be promptly removed. In our trials, Hedychium 'Vanilla Ice' rarely exceeds 4' in height and is topped in late summer with deliciously fragrant, peachy-pink flowers...a real charmer!
