Crinum buphanoides (looks like a boophone...not related to a cell phone) comes from the northern regions of South Africa where it can be found growing in areas that are swampy during the summer months and dry in the winter. The large rosettes of fleshy glaucous leaves are often heavily rippled...a reason to grow the plant even if it didn't flower. In summer, the huge flower spikes are adorned with up to 50 white, sweetly-fragrant, star-shaped flowers, highlighted by purple stamens...similar to Crinum erubescens.
