Thanks to Scott Ogden for sharing this wonderful Luther Burbank hybrid, which he described as "arguably the most lovely crinum ever bred." We've finally got it propagated so we can spread this plant far and wide. Crinum 'White Queen' is a cross of Crinum x powellii 'Alba' and Crinum macowanii, which should give it very good hardiness...probably into Zone 6. The very long wide leaves make an imposing, but slowly offsetting, clump topped in late spring with 3' tall spikes of large, pure white bells that emerge sideways then become pendent. If you've been looking for a "white queen" to live in your garden, we can help.
