Lobelia 'Candy Corn' isn't your grandmothers lobelia...unless she was from Nuevo Leon or San Luis Potosi states in Northern Mexico, where Lobelia laxiflora can be found in dry, open woodlands. Lobelia 'Candy Corn' is a selection of Lobelia laxiflora var. laxiflora that forms 5' tall purple stalks clothed with dark green leaves. Lobelia 'Candy Corn' is a clump former compared to its cousin, the stoloniferous Lobelia laxiflora var. angustifolia. Starting in late spring, the upper stalks are adorned with candy corn-like tubular flowers of bright orange, ending with a reflexed yellow tip...a very cool hummingbird favorite!
