Arisaema kishidae is a little-known but easy-to-grow Japanese species (related to Arisaema serratum) that we have really enjoyed in our garden. This is a specially selected clone of Arisaema kishidae, reproduced thanks to tissue culture. Each 15" tall petiole (stalk) is adorned with two 7-9 leaflet leaves, each highlighted with a striking central band of silver. In late spring, the petiole is topped with a brownish-purple pitcher with a hood that drapes like a rigid whip over the front. The light brown pencil-like spadix barely peeks out from the center of the pitcher...probably cowering from the whip.
