Phlox 'Eco Flirty Eyes' is a selection of the US native Phlox nivalis from the late Dr. Don Jacobs, who rescued cuttings from a plant in Rockdale County, GA. Starting for us in mid to late March, the evergreen groundcover is smothered with lovely lavender blue flowers, highlighted by a small dark blotch at the base of each of the five petals. Our 20-year old patch of this tough as nails, weed-choking Southeast native has spread to 10' wide, but it can be easily restrained.
