Eucomis 'Sparkling Burgundy' is a dramatic, purple-foliaged pineapple lily we selected as a seedling in 1983, which later became a 1997 Plant Delights/JLBG introduction. It is still one of the most talked-about plants in our garden, and one that has enjoyed massive worldwide popularity. Eucomis 'Sparkling Burgundy' is a dramatic accent plant, composed of 2' tall, upright strap-like dark burgundy leaves. In late summer, the clump produces a 20" tall bloom stalk resembling a miniature purple pineapple...very cool! Eucomis 'Sparkling Burgundy' is very easy to grow and tolerates a wide range of garden abuses. In cooler climates, it adds great color to mixed planters!
