(syn: Carex glauca) This recent richly-colored Emerald Coast selection of the European native Carex flacca has wonderfully narrow glaucous blue leaves that make a delightfully wispy-textured, evergreen, deer-resistant groundcover. Although Carex flacca prefers moist alkaline soils, it has proven to be quite adaptable to a wide range of garden conditions and soil types. Carex flacca does spread, but Carex 'Blue Zinger' is much more clump forming than the straight species...similar to Carex 'Ice Dance'. Expect a 2' wide patch in 5 years.
