Sauls Rd

Baptisia leucophaea 'Butterball' (Butterball Redneck Lupine)

SunZone: 5-9, at least 18" tall Origin: USA

Open House/Web-Only! New crop available 8-12-2010 We grow lots of baptisia seed each year and this one of our Baptisia leucophaea seedlings stood out from all the rest after years of trials and was named and introduced in 2008. The early-emerging Baptisia 'Butterball' makes a compact 18" tall x 2' wide deer-resistant clump of glaucous foliage, adorned with obscenely large and floriferous pendulous spikes of creamy yellow flowers, starting in early April (in NC). Baptisia leucophaea cuttings aren't the easiest things to root, so the supply of plants is very limited. Pot size: 24 fl. oz (709.77 ml)
