Cypripedium parviflorum var. parviflorum (Southern Yellow Ladyslipper Orchid)
Light Shade Zone: 4-7 15" tall Origin: USA
(aka: C. calceolus var. parviflorum) This native ladyslipper has been virtually unavailable from propagated stock until recently. We are pleased to be able to offer a limited number of seed grown, flowering-sized plants of this midwest/east coast woodland native. In very late spring, the 1' tall upright stems emerge, clothed with large fuzzy leaves. As they finish unfurling, you will find them topped with an exquisite, bright yellow, pouch-like flower, backed with long mahogany sepals. Once established, the clumps will develop into multiple stemmed prizes worthy of including in your will. In the wild, these prefer moist, but well-drained sites... spread the roots out horizontally and plant shallow... only for advanced gardeners! Pot size: 24 fl. oz (709.77 ml)
